I just bought a cape cod bracelet in all sterling silver and i wore it in the pool for swim practice, not knowing that chlorine tarnishes silver. What are some home remedies to remove tarnish and where can I buy some of the tarnish removing dips and polishes? Also, is it safe to wear sterling silver in the shower, or can water in general tarnish your jewelry? P.S. my bracelet has no gemstones on it, it’s just all sterling silver

A can of silver cleaner will do it – usually you dip the jewelry in, rinse it and dry it (just follow the directions). It usually costs around $10 for a can. There are also silver cloths you can use to simply polish it with. 1 cloth is usually around $5. I’ve even seen silver wipes (kind of like those Wet Wipe napkins) for sale now.
You can wear sterling silver anywhere – I have been wearing my silver chain in every element you can imagine – at the beach, in the snow, shower, etc. Keep in mind that pretty much all silver chains are plated with rhodium to prevent damage.

You can go to a Hardware store or Walmart and buy "Tarn-X". It’s a dip that will take off the tarnish before your eyes. I know you can clean your silver by pouring baking soda over your silver in an aluminum dish and adding boiling water to it, but I am not sure if it will take the tarnish caused by chlorine. You can call local jewelers and see if they can clean it for you for free.
