My fiancee and I got plain engagement ‘bands’. Now for the wedding we are having more traditional rings made (with a diamond for her). Our wedding rings won’t match our engagement rings, and I can’t find any advice on what to do with the bands. Wear them on our right hands? Display them? Just keep them tucked away as a memory?

It seems like some men are simultaneously repulsed by the idea that a woman might want an expensive engagement ring and compelled to want to give an expensive one as a sign of his wealth, power, or the implicit "value" of his fiancee (if you will). What emotion tends to win out if he is indeed having this conflict?

Can I still get a 2 carat Solitaire ring with a round channel diamond band to go with a diamond channel band. A jeweler told me that a solitaire must be a bigger size carat from the band in order for it to stand out. HELP!

My fiancee proposed to me about 3 months ago. He knew the general style I wanted and did a pretty good job. It is a princess cut diamond (about .33 carats) with 4 square side stones on each side, 1 carat total weight. I liked it for a while, but I have always wanted a solitaire ring.
