I have been wearing 14K gold for over 20 years and now I am getting embarrassing black marks under them for no reason, as if they are costume jewelry! Does anyone know why
My rings are all solid 14K gold, not plated. I have not changed anything or started using anything different as far as soaps, lotions, etc! I have worn these rings for years and years without this problem! I am very confused!

You may want to have your water checked. I have heard of this before and it could be a contamination of your water supply with heavy metals or chemical contaminants. Don’t have a heart attack but I think their are two types of metal that do that. one is arsenic but you wouldn’t be writing the question if it were, two is manganese but you may want to have your water tested anyway. Usually your health Dept. will do it for free if not for a nominal charge.
I think maybe you should stop wearing them. Maybe you’re allergic.
You have to consider that maybe your ring has just been dipped in gold and is not solid. If you keep your hand in dish soap often or bleaCH THAT COULD CAUSE THE GOLD TO TARNISH AND RUB OFF ON YOUR FINGERS.
Have you started using a chemical product that you didn’t before? New dish liquid or lotion?
You may have gotten into some new chemical. A new soap, cleaner, etc. It may be having a reaction on your skin. Always make sure you rinse well under the ring area of your finger.
